Jennifer E. Shaar - Director

Colonel Jennifer Shaar is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 1992.

During her career in the Marine Corps her leadership assignments included: Headquarters and Service Battalion Commander at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego; Commander of Region-1 (Eastern Europe and Eurasia) within the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group; Service Company Commander supporting, the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Atlantic.

Colonel Shaar has served as a financial management officer in both operational and support commands. She deployed as a Civil Military Affairs Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 1st Marine Division in 2004. Additionally, she served multiple headquarters tours within Headquarters, Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, as well as the Department of Defense.

Colonel Shaar is a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School where she earned a M.S. in Management and the U.S. Army War College where she earned a M.A. in Strategic Studies. She also served as a Congressional Fellow, representing the Marine Corps on Capitol Hill. She is currently working on a Master of Science in Finance at Georgetown University and is employed with SAIC supporting the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness

FOUNDATION BOARD

Our Board of Directors come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them all, a passion for preserving and perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps. Many who serve on our Board have a strong connection with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot having drilled on the grinder, been stationed aboard the Depot, or felt the local impact of Marines in San Diego.
