Mr. Allan J. Rappoport – Director

A RappoportMr. Rappoport is the former President and CEO, AJR & Associates, International Trade and Management Consultants.  He is also a retired U.S. Treasury Department Executive.  Mr. Rappoport is a former MCRD Museum Foundation Board of Directors President and a Marine Corps Veteran “Buck Sergeant”.

Prior to forming AJR and Associates he held several billets in the U. S. Treasury Department.  During his Internal Revenue Service assignment, he held several positions including being a Principal in the detailed design and implementation of the World’s largest and most sophisticated automated revenue collection and tax administration system.  Mr. Rappoport is a graduate of the IRS Executive Development Program.

During his subsequent U.S. Customs assignments he served as the Treasury Law Enforcement Communication System Division Director; Automated Merchandise Processing System Division Director; Management Information System Director; Management Analysis Division Director; Special Assistant to the U. S. Customs Pacific Regional Commissioner and District Director U. S. Customs, San Diego.

He also served as Chairman of the International Customs Cooperation Council, Brussels, Belgium, and

the U.S. Customs Representative, United Nations Trade Facilitation Committee, Geneva, Switzerland. He further served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the U. S. Treasury,

His volunteer work has, in part, included Vice Chairman, San Diego Port Commission Advisory Committee; Commissioner/BOD, San Diego Crime Commission; President, San Diego County Honorary Deputy Sheriffs Association; BOD/ Director, Marines Memorial Association; Charter Member, Flying Leatherneck Association; member Marine Corps League Honorary Devil Dog Society, and the Association of Former Customs Special Agents. Mr. Rappoport is also a graduate of American University in Washington D.C. with an undergraduate degree in biology and a Masters in clinical psychology, and a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.

FOUNDATION BOARD

Our Board of Directors come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them all, a passion for preserving and perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps. Many who serve on our Board have a strong connection with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot having drilled on the grinder, been stationed aboard the Depot, or felt the local impact of Marines in San Diego.
